Professional Details

Short Biography

I am a photographer/videographer with a broad interest in nature and the outdoors and came to photography through my love of the outdoor life (backpacking, climbing, caving, mountaineering and mountain rescue). For me, capturing that fleeting moment of light upon a landscape that will never be exactly the same again, or revealing the subtle natural details that have always been a part of our natural world, but are often overlooked is a challenge I enjoy immensely. My work regularly appears in various magazines, newspapers and books.

Professional Activities

I have written articles for magazines such as Outdoor Photography and provided copy/images for tourism/accommodation websites. Photography wise my images have appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers, books, outdoor products, leaflets, calendars, and on TV.

A few examples of where my images have been published are the Washington Post, The Times,  Express, Telegraph, Mail and Guardian Newspapers.

Examples of magazines are The National Geographic, Trail, Countryfile, Country Walking, Outdoor Photography, Bushcraft and Survival, BBC Wildlife and Cumbria magazine among many others.

I have also licensed images to numerous book publishers, for example, the front covers of books such as Outdoor Survival by Lofty Wiseman, The Birdwatcher and Catherine Cookson. Some other examples are Ramblers Best Walks in Britain (Collins), Navigators Ancient Rome (Kingfisher) and The Most Amazing Places to Walk in Britain (Readers Digest).

More recently have begun producing video to help local businesses and organisations promote Teesdale, County Durham and the North Pennines as a place to visit and enjoy the outdoors.
