Professional Details

Short Biography

Mark has been in and around photography and television for over 40 years. He is a landscape photographer, outdoor writer, and author. He works regularly with broadcaster David Powell Thompson and offers his own one to one bespoke workshops in the Western Lakes as well as specialist camera walks . He combines his knowledge and experience of walking and photographing in the Lake District to promote the area.
Mark writes for a range of magazines including Lakeland Walker, The Great Outdoors, Cumbria, Cumbria Life, Country Walking and has his own landscape photography series in Lancashire Life and Lake District Life.
Mark is no stranger to television and is also the only featured photographer in the film ‘ Life of A Mountain: Scafell’ .
Mark is also a broadcast television Producer and Director and has produced programmes across the world.

Professional Activities

Mark writes for a range of organisations and his various experiences ranging from walks to farming, forestry, celebrity and commercial photography work for national and international clients.
He has an extensive experience of the Lake District fells, Snowdonia and the Peak District.
He regularly delivers book talks and is asked to talk to organisations about his specialist work.

Recent Publications

His new book on Waterfalls which is written jointly with David Powell Thompson will be published in July of this year and a second commissioned book is currently being compiled for October delivery. He writes monthly for both Lancashire Life and a Lake District Life. Not just on photography but also as a features writer.
He contributes regularly to Cumbria magazine and in particular The Great Outdoors. He judges their photography competition too.

Awards

Mark was made a Fellow by the British Institute of Professional,Photographers as a result of his Lake District work.
He was won numerous television awards and in 1999 took first place at the IVCA television awards.
