Professional Details

Short Biography

Have never worked professionally in the outdoor field, but walking is my passion. Began the hard way with the Pennine Way in 1970 (when it was a hard walk) and have worked my way through most of our long distance trails. Have walked extensively throughout England, Wales and Europe, and been twice to South Africa, New Zealand, India, Nepal and the USA.

Wrote the White Peak Way as a one off and didn’t start up again until 2005 with the Chesterfield Round Walk. After taking early retirement in 2008, I’ve been working constantly developing and writing walking routes as a volunteer for the Ramblers, Activity Sheffield, community groups and primary schools. I am a member of the Sheffield Walking Forum, coordinator for Walking Out in Sheffield and an organiser of the Sheffield Walking Festival. I am a walk leader and have had two more guides published, Walking South Yorkshire and the Sheffield Greenway.
