Awards
1993: Peter M Hauer Award Spelean History Award, National Speleological Society, USA ; 1997: Giles Barker Award for Excellence in Cave Photography; 1997: Tratman Award for caving literature; 1998: OWG/Fuji Professional Award for Excellence in Photography; 1998: Spelean Arts and Letters Award, National Speleological Society, USA; 2009: Tratman Award for caving literature (a second time); 2013 to 2020: eight times winner of the OWPG Award for Excellence for Photography and fourteen times winner of the UK's premier cave photography salon. He has taken first place in national and international cave photography salons over 50 times, most recently in 2024, as well as receiving numerous commendations and ribbons.
