OWPG Zooms

In January 2021, we launched a series of online Zoom meetings for Guild members and guests to give presentations on a range of subjects which we hope will be of interest to you all. These are usually only open to members. However, occasionally, for topics of wider interest (such as Mary-Ann Ochota’s talk on Writing Inclusion into the Outdoors), we may open up participation to people outside the Guild.

When?

OWPG Member Zooms normally take place on the third Wednesday of the month, running from 7pm-8pm.

The presenter will speak for 30-40 minutes and there will be 20-30 minutes for discussion.

We will usually also keep the session open after the presentation for informal chat among members.

Forthcoming sessions

Tuesday 10 December 2024 – Christmas Quiz – Stan Abbott and Chris Scaife

This year’s OWPG Christmas🎄quiz will be on Tuesday 10 December at 7.30 pm.

For the first time ever, we have two co-presenters: Stan Abbott and Chris Scaife. They will each set a selection of questions on a wide range of topics, but with an emphasis on writing and the outdoors. As in previous years, this promises to be an enjoyable session, so prepare to battle it out for some major kudos – and maybe some prizes too…

Previous Zoom:

Wednesday 20 November 2024 – Boost your income with a portfolio career – Julia Goodfellow-Smith

Current OWPG Secretary, Julia Goodfellow-Smith, led an extremely helpful session on generating multiple streams of income. This way of working, increasingly common in many fields, is often termed a ‘portfolio career’. We had contributions from several members about their diverse income streams. We would strongly recommend watching the replay if you were unable to attend the live session.

How to access?

The presentations will offer a mix of entertainment and instruction, with the aim that you should both enjoy the talks and learn something from them.

If you miss the Zoom we may have a recording available; see the Zooms Forum (remember to sign in to access this!) for the link. We recommend that you view or download the recording as soon as possible after the session took place as our account only allows us to store a limited number of past recordings.

We will send Zoom invitations to all members nearer the time.
