I engage in a number of professional photography and videography genres including caving, climbing, trail running, drone piloting, wildlife and landscape. I am freelance and work on a contract basis. I also exhibit my photography work in Fine Art Galleries.

Sam grew up in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park near Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Surrounded by natural outdoor beauty Sam has always been a very outdoors person. He loves travelling and seeing different landscapes and cultures around the work. While most of his career has been purely scientific, he uses photography as a creative outlet. After university in Leeds, he embarked on a round the world trip which included south east Asia, Australia, New Zealand, USA and a year in Canada. Since then, he had a long stint in Bath, UK, followed by another trip with his wife around south east Asia and settling in New Zealand for nearly 3 years. He now lives in Four Crosses, Powys, near the border with Shropshire. Sam’s photographic style varies hugely, from black and white studio portraits to outdoor extreme sports. His real passion is being outdoors and spotting rare wildlife when there is no one else around. At the same time, he loves interacting with people and learning about their ideas, projects, and transforms these into finished pieces using visual storytelling. When photographing landscapes, he uses a variety of techniques to try and represent not only the view, but the feeling of standing in that space.
